Write for us

Genuine Regional News welcomes well-shaped proposals that help readers understand regional identity without flattening a place into a slogan. We are interested in clear, specific stories that leave room for nuance.

What to pitch

Propose an explanatory feature, comparison, history or close look at a regional detail tied to landscapes, buildings, local words, foodways or traditions. A strong idea has a defined question, a clear reader benefit and a reason it belongs in this publication. Show what makes the angle distinct from a general travel overview or a list of regional stereotypes.

What makes a useful proposal

Send a short summary, the central point you intend to establish, the category it best fits and a brief note on the material you would use. Be clear about uncertainty, limits and any relevant interests. We value original framing and readable prose; a sweeping claim about a whole region is not a substitute for a precise argument.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option and identifying your message as a pitch. Please do not send a complete manuscript unless requested. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we cannot guarantee a response to every submission.

Our point of view

A regional label is a starting point, not an explanation.

Places rarely fit a neat story. We look at the details behind regional identity, including the contradictions and connections that a tidy label can hide.
