Editorial policy
Genuine Regional News aims to make its explanations clear, proportionate and open about what they can establish. Readers should be able to tell the difference between a grounded description, an interpretation and a claim that needs more support.
Accuracy and context
We check factual statements against suitable sources before publication and try to give claims enough context to avoid misleading shorthand. Regional identities are varied and contested; we avoid presenting one custom, voice or landscape as representative of a whole place without a sound reason. Where evidence or interpretation is uncertain, the wording should make that uncertainty visible.
Independence and interests
Editorial choices are made for reader relevance and fit with our subject, not as a promise of favourable coverage. If a commercial relationship could affect how material is understood, we disclose it clearly. Paid material is distinguished from editorial work, and partner involvement does not buy an editorial conclusion.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or a passage that needs important context, use the Contact page and identify the article and wording. We review credible correction requests and update material when warranted, making significant changes clear to readers where appropriate.
Images and illustrations
Images are selected to support the subject without implying more than they show. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when an illustration is AI-generated, we label it as such. Illustrations should not be mistaken for documentary evidence.
A regional label is a starting point, not an explanation.
Places rarely fit a neat story. We look at the details behind regional identity, including the contradictions and connections that a tidy label can hide.
